This first photobook began not with a camera — but with admiration.
For years, I’ve been shaped by photographers who saw more than just skin. Who framed bodies like architecture. Who used light to sculpt emotion.
Tamotsu Yato. Herb Ritts. Richard Avedon.
Their work didn’t just inspire me — it changed how I see.
📸 Influence #1: Tamotsu Yato – Shadows as Story
Tamotsu Yato was never interested in beauty alone. He sought truth in exposure , power in vulnerability .
His iconic black-and-white portraits of Japanese bodybuilders and warriors weren’t just photographs — they were statements of presence , maps of masculinity , and explorations of fear .
He taught me that:
Light reveals, but shadow defines
Nudity isn’t about exposure — it’s about honesty
A subject doesn’t pose — they exist
And so when I photographed Aoi Musashi, I didn’t ask him to perform — I asked him to be.
🎞️ Influence #2: Herb Ritts – Strength as Sculpture
Herb Ritts made muscle feel like marble. Motion feel like stillness. Sweat feel like art.
His work showed me that strength is not aggression , and masculinity is not performance — it’s posture, poise, and presence.
From Ritts, I learned to frame Aoi not as a model, but as a sculpture — every curve, every line, every breath telling its own story.
I wanted to make something that felt sculptural on the page , just as much as it did in motion.
🧠 Influence #3: Richard Avedon – Portraits That Speak
Richard Avedon once said:
“All pictures are self-portraits.”
That idea stuck with me.
Even when photographing Aoi Musashi, I wasn’t just capturing his face or form — I was revealing how I saw him . And through that, how I see the world.
Avedon’s books — especially In the American West — are more than collections of images. They’re visual narratives . Emotional journeys.
And that’s what I wanted this photobook to be.
Not just a showcase of moments — but a story told in silence , through framing, pacing, and print.

田所の作品から学んだこと：
光は明らかにするもの、影は定義するもの
裸体とは暴露ではなく誠実であるべき
被写体はポーズをするのではない、そこに“いる”のだ
だからこそ、青 Musashi を撮影する際、私はポーズを求めませんでした。
ただ、自然体でいてほしいと願いました。

リッツから教わったのは、Aoi Musashiをモデルとしてではなく、一つの「彫刻」として捉える視点。
ページ上で、動く瞬間と同じくらい静かな瞬間も美しく伝える技術。
そして、一枚一枚がそれぞれ異なる物語を持つということ。

私の創作プロセス – 無言の対話
私が撮影を始める時、まず光を整える前にしていることがあります。
それは、沈黙を待つことです。
被写体が落ち着き、空気が呼吸し始めてから初めて、私はシャッターを切ります。
この写真集は、そのプロセスを反映しています。
